Sports Chiro Australia
Hi everyone,
As some of you may have noticed I was away last weekend as I had a long drive down to Coffs to attend the Sports Chiropractic Australia ‘symposium’.
All in all a great weekend and very educational on a number of levels. Recently Dr Peter Garbutt, the head of Sports Chiropractic Australia was elected to head up the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) so it was amazing to hear him speak. This organisation is the peak body for chiropractors in sport and has been doing a lot for chiropractic around the world. It makes sure chiropractors are represented at sports events on every continent and is even sending a Australian chiropractor to Rio with the Olympic Team, which has never happened before for Australia at any Olympics.
But beyond all the politicking the presenters had a wealth of advice for sports specific muscle releases and adjustments and demonstrated techniques I had never encountered. We only covered the upper limb at this conference but it is the first part of getting an internationally recognised Sports Chiropractic Accreditation which seems to me now like it’s a very good thing to have. So watch this space as more is revealed I look forward to helping more people with there sporting endeavours amongst the community.
