Chiropractic Care for Every Lifestyle

Let’s face it — we all live different lives, and our bodies feel it. Maybe you’re chasing a personal best on the track, navigating pregnancy changes, or just trying to survive another day hunched over your laptop. Whatever your routine looks like, chiropractic care can be personalized to help you move better, feel better, and keep up with whatever life throws your way.

Our Chiropractors have got your back.

For Athletes and Active Individuals

We understand that injuries can really get in the way of an active lifestyle. And it’s not just professional athletes that deserve access to the finest care possible when navigating recovery or  performance optimisation.

Keeping flexibility and range of motion in the spine, joints and muscles, as well as a healthy nervous system, can support you in your workout and training goals. Athletes tend to know when something isnt functioning well in their own body, but sometimes it can be difficult to put your finger on exactly what is holding you back, or why a problem keeps reappearing.

When chiropractors are assessing pain or injury, we look beyond the painful area in front of us. We want to know about old injuries that could be affecting the way you move, or repetitive strains that develop when you’re serving at tennis or bowling cricket. Weaknesses can develop in those few years you took off to raise the kids or focus on the career. All these things can get in the way of the athletes in our community achieving what they know they’re really capable of.

Once we work out what is driving the pain we can start to make a real difference. We can give you the right mix of rest or activity, home strengthening or hands on treatment, to get past the injury. And that’s when the alignment, range of motion, strength and function all start to feel natural again.

For Pregnant Women

Pregnancy is amazing and such a special time for any mum-to-be but let’s be honest being pregnant can take a real toll on the body.  A woman’s body has an incredible capacity to change and adapt to grow our beautiful babies but often with that change can also come pain and discomfort that can be incredibly difficult to manage on your own.

From postural and hormonal changes, to ligaments relaxing and muscles getting tight -it can be hard to know where to start. Working with a prenatal chiropractor to manage and relieve the issues that face pregnant women can be incredibly life-improving! Who doesn’t want to have the best pregnancy and birth experience possible?

Pregnant women most commonly see a prenatal chiropractor to find pregnancy back pain relief.  But that is not all we do!

We also help mama’s who are dealing with:

  • Pelvic Girdle Pain
  • Pubic Symphysis Pain ( SPD a.k.a “lightning crotch”)
  • Coccyx Pain /Tailbone Pain
  • Back and Shoulder Pain
  • Headaches
  • Shoulder pain
  • TMJ pain
  • And more…

Another incredibly important part of our prenatal chiropractic practice is supporting women who want to prepare their body for birth with a focus on their pelvic health and helping them to have wonderful movement capacity and optimal maternal positioning for birthing their babies and setting themselves up for as best birth and recovery as possible.

Chiropractic For Desk Workers

They say sitting is the new smoking, we know it increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, as well as a variety of cancers.  It’s also linked to depression and anxiety. In fact we know that the more time you spend bent forward, with your gaze lowered, the higher your risk of depression and anxiety.

When you’re sitting at the desk you’ll tend to be hunched up a bit. Your head may be held forward for a long time, your hip angle closed, and your back curled over. Getting out of this bent over position, or flexion posture, is therefore key for good health.

Your spine has a natural curve curve forward and backwards again, and that curve is there for a reason, the natural curve of your spine is great for distributing weight and for load bearing. If you’re bent over. Desk or steering wheel all day the load becomes unevenly distributed and ends up on our discs, and bursa’s.

Getting up and stretching your pec muscles and your hip flexors can be a great way to start reversing these postures. But sometimes a stretch or workout doesn’t quite get our joints moving again, shoulders stay rounded and the pelvis stays tilted.

Chiropractor care can help you realign your spine, especially when other methods just aren’t working. Chiropractors can help increase your range of motion, and align your joints again, allowing you to get back into normal posture, relieving the pressure on the sore lumbar disc, or shoulder bursa and getting you back to normality in your body, and your frame of mind.

Chiro Care for Seniors

Chiropractic care for older individuals in our community is not the same as for everyone else. Whether it’s plantar fascia pain making the morning a really slow start, shoulder pain after lifting the grandkids, or hip and knee arthritis getting up and down from a chair or the floor. As we age we get a few more injuries, maybe we’ve had a couple of uncomfortable surgeries that affect how we move. Sometimes the pains from decades past start to reappear. Sometimes we run in to something new we just never saw coming!

If we’re choosing musculoskeletal care for a mature person then a thorough understanding of the hormonal changes involved with aging is a must. The impact of these changes on ligaments, bones and muscles is typically profound, losing muscle and bone mass to our hormones makes recovery time take a little longer.

Maybe the work day takes a bigger toll than it used to, or maybe keeping up with the grandkids seems more and more stressful. And even if you can hand those grandkids back to their parents in the afternoon that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get up and down off the floor all day long without noticing it later.

We know osteoporosis and osteoarthritis respond really well to exercise, and when we add those exercises to a well placed Chiropractic adjustment you might feel like you can move through your joints properly, and have the strength to keep up with your kids, or their kids, again!

For Babies, Children and Teens

Our children have their own unique needs when it comes to supporting their growing bodies.  They are not simply little adults and they have very different issues that can affect them at different times of their life and they need treatments that are suitable for their unique stage of development.

The stressors that can cause issues in the musculoskeletal and nervous systems are also different in different age groups from Newborns who are dealing with the stress of birth and learning to feed; to infants who have a janky crawl because they have an untreated injury to school aged children who are trying to cope with the bumps and scapes of childhood all the way to our teens who are often pushing their bodies to the limit with their sports as well as study and managing in this high tech, screen heavy world.

We know as parents you know your kids best and you can pick up on these things in their body.  Their posture looks off, they aren’t sleeping well, they’re more grumpy than usual, or they complain they are sore and over it!

Our paediatric trained Chiropractors can help and provide gentle, age appropriate treatments to improve posture, soreness, more function and improve the health of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system and pick up on important issues early; such as scoliosis, hypermobility syndromes. This can be life changing and life improving for your family.

For Accident or Injury Recovery

A young woman of African decent, sits up on the edge of a table as her Chiropractor carefully gives her an adjustment. She is dressed casually and has her head tilted to the side as her Chiropractor walks her through the adjustment. The Chiropractor is standing behind the patient as he moves the patients head and shoulder gently into position.

Enduring physical trauma can be really hard, we can’t underplay the musculoskeletal pain that a fall or a car accident can create, we might experience difficulty moving around at home or work, or just trying to get a good night’s sleep.

Sometimes we might feel fine after the injury, but the pain comes on 2-3 days later, headaches and shoulder pain are common, as well as neck stiffness and reduced endurance for desk work and exercise. Sometimes a year or two goes by, the rehab is over, the insurer has checked out but the symptoms creep back and bother us again.

Some people notice an hour or two at the desk gets them a stiff neck and an ache develops at the base of the skull, or maybe your jaw clicks and pops and you get a headache around the temples but that never happened before. Maybe one or both shoulders are weak when you go to lift your bag, or one of the kids, and it aches for days afterwards.

Hyper arousal is another more rare, but known consequence of traumatic events, and that can lead to irritability with colleagues and loved ones, you might notice difficulty resting and getting the sleep you need to heal properly, and difficulty getting back into exercise again.

We know that maintaining a positive attitude is really helpful, but we have to get the body right too. With trauma and whiplash especially we have  to achieve a balance between good spinal alignment, mobility in our joints, and gradual strengthening.

Many trauma patients note real benefits with chiropractic care, and that might come from the pain relief a chiropractic adjustment could provide, or targeted muscle releases, trigger pointing and massage, maybe from gradual mobilisation of stiff shoulders and neck joints.

Once you know how to control your pain you can start to work on strength and endurance. This is what gets us back to normal work tasks, as well as family life and exercise goals, and keeps us there long term.

For Dancers and Performers

Professional, emotional ballet dancers practicing in the gym or hall with minimalism interior. Couple dancing a sensual dance before performance.

Being in the Performing Arts is not just an activity; for some it is their life-blood and also their income source. Whether it be dance, singing, acting or a triple-threat. We understand the toll that being on stage can have.

Dancers have truly unique pains and injuries from pushing their bodies to the absolute limits.  I’m sure all dancers can relate to the sore feet, over stretched joints and aching muscles that come along with the intense practices and amazing performances. Chiropractors can help support dancers in maintaining their bodies through performance season.  We get dancers and know the importance of great posture, alignment and symmetry and of course beautiful, functional feet.

Singing and acting can also push your limits and can come with its own unique challenges.  Whether it be searching for more function in your diaphragm or being sore from throwing your body into a performance Chiropractic can help support your body.
